musician. Most important, he knows exactly what this means study. Rigoli's self-evaluation is done with modesty and relaxed in conversation. One can sense a mind that is always paying attention. It is this attention that has told him that, with a lot of today's Jazz, a player has to know so much more about music than he did a couple of decades ago. The proof in that statement can be heard in this release. The vibraphonist has what feels is good basic knowledge of jazz as it's being performed today, but the contemporary scene is witnessing so many icons being broken so quickly that Rigoli says, "keep practicing, man." The results are "more strength, more power more music." On this CD, each piece brings out another side of the talents of this musician as a composer.
    EASY STREET, he swings along with neat, concise statements and a delightfully feathery touch. RYAN'S SONG, a fine sense of development and rhythmic implementation. LEPORE STOMP, his playing is dancing and jabbing, much like the playing of his drummer in the 80's. BALLAD FOR KAREN, beautiful,
